The third phase of the social responsibility partnership that began in 2017 between Macmillan Education Botswana and Maisantwa Primary School was carried out through training of Maisantwa Primary School ECD teachers together with other schools in the Kanye Sub Region. Pre-primary teachers from all corners of Kanye converged at the Southern Regional Office to receive ECD training from the renowned Ms Nkemeleng of Macmillan Teacher Campus.
The event was graced by, among others, the sub region officials and our CEO Ms Felicity Leburu-Sianga, who in the opening remarks about the project outlined the objectives of the training as follows:
- To equip the teachers of Maisantwa and Kanye Sub Region with pre-primary classroom management, learning and teaching skills
- To offer the Maisantwa pre-primary class support in terms of resources used in the pre-primary classroom
- to demonstrate our commitment as Macmillan Education to advancing learning in our market
The sessions were nothing short of amusing and fun-filled as Ms Nkemeleng made the participants do all the activities they would assign to the learners as if they were the learners themselves!
Mr Mogale, the Chief Education Officer of Kanye Sub Region expressed sincere gratitude to Macmillan and urged the teachers to go and implement what they have learned in their pre-primary classrooms. He reiterated that the training will go a long way in ensuring the teachers are well equipped with 21st century teaching and learning methods to produce well rounded citizens of tomorrow.
